5 Ways to Practice Self-Love This Valentine's Day (And Always TBH)

Valentine’s Day emphasizes a romantic type of love, which is great. However, it reminds me that in order for us to truly love on others, we need to show ourselves self-love, too!  After all, this type of love is just as important.

1. Speak LOVE to yourself and pay close attention to your thoughts.

Our thoughts are powerful. What we say and think about ourselves is important. Instead of being critical of yourself, be your own best friend. Would you say what you think about yourself to a BFF?

2. Let go of the comparison game.

A lot easier said than done. Each body is unique and looks different. Each journey is different. Let’s be comfortable in our own skin. Our lives will not match up 100% to each other.

3. Community.

Surround yourself with people that encourage you and remind you of how beautiful you are. The company of positive, uplifting people is crucial. Good energy goes far. If you don’t have these type of people around you, seek it out.

4. Health & Wellness.

Nourish your body with wholesome, nutritious food. Exercise and get some activity in. Show your body it matters by treating it well.

5. Self-care, baby.

Whether it be daily, weekly, monthly. Make time for YOU. Get a massage, get your nails done, treat yo-self. Self-care is crucial. (“HAIR DONE, NAILS DONE, EVERYTHING DID!” right?)

As Valentine’s approaches and you begin to think about that special person in your life, don’t forget about yourself. Practicing self- love is something that can truly change your life for the better.
