10 Ways to Boost Your Self-Esteem STAT

Because sweetie, let’s be honest...building + maintaining confidence doesn’t always come easy.

Here are 10 simple ways to boost your self-esteem and strengthen your confidence:⁣

1. Take time to identify your goals, needs, wants + hopes. Make sure your choices move you closer to them and not further away.⁣

2. Decide what is and isn’t okay with you. Then create boundaries that help you stay true to those boundaries.⁣

3. View challenges + “mistakes” as opportunities to learn + grow. ⁣

4. Talk to yourself like you would a good friend or child—with kindness, grace, compassion and humor.⁣

5. Stand tall. Like, literally. Good posture is known to scientifically improve your confidence. ⁣While you’re at it, smile too (even if it’s just to yourself). Also scientifically proven to boost your mood (which in turn, boosts your confidence).

6. Take time to build meaningful + reciprocal connections with people who make you feel safe, seen, hard + treat you the way you want to be treated (and limit time spent with those who don’t TBH)⁣.

7. Exercise, eat nourishing + healthy food, drink plenty of water (ugh I need to be better at this) + get 8 hours of sleep a night (also need to be better at this). ⁣

8. Follow your curiosities—create, build, make art, listen to really good music. Do more of what makes you feel inspired, grounded, joyful and more like you.⁣

9. Slow down and connect with yourself by turning off your phone (ugh need to work on this one too), flicking on “do not disturb” mode, spending some time focusing on breathing (sounds silly, but this is life-changing. if you’re new to incorporating breathing or mindfulness exercises to manage anxiety and mood, download @calm@happynotperfect or look up “4-7-8 breathing on @youtube to get started), taking a long walk (I love walking for miles and challenging myself to notice 10 things I’ve never noticed before), going on a hike, spending time outdoors.⁣

10. Let loose. Play. Get silly. Put your favorite record on. Dance. HAVE FUN.⁣
