Even with the highest unemployment rate since the Great Depression, we have seen an enormous amount of giving to those in need the last few months, whether it’s been for those impacted by COVID-19, Black Lives Matter or another very worthy cause.

Many small businesses are making a huge impact right now with their regular giving to vulnerable communities. We know that your spending power goes a long way and that’s why we are sharing a handful of small businesses that are giving back, and every time you patronize them you are supporting a cause or organization in need.

Marie Hunter Beauty

Marie Hunter is an inclusive beauty company offering a comprehensive line for everyone and almost every inch of your body. While they are most well-known for their dozens (and dozens) of shades of lipstick, MHB founded by beauty aficionado, KéNisha Ruff, also offers a complete line of skincare, including cleansers, mists, masks, moisturizers, and more. For every purchase, MHB donates a portion of our proceeds to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America.

Alana Oates, a world-class shoe designer, and wanderlust created Llani to blend her expertise with her world travel to make beautiful and completely original slip-on shoes. All shoes are created in female-founded or family-owned factories in India. The Llani mission is to “ensure those female workers have strong leadership roles at each factory.” For every purchase of $50 or more, Llani donates $50 to COVID-19 protection efforts in India.

Named after Pachamama, the Incan Goddess for Mother Earth, MamaP is a company that founded a bamboo toothbrush that allows you to do good while doing something as simple as brushing your own teeth. Bamboo is a super plant that grows abundantly in the wild, a carbon sink, compostable, strong, and anti-microbial. MamaP packages and ships their product with completely compostable material, making their product as waste-free as possible, uniquely a part of the circular economy. Organic Bath Co.

Based outside of Boston, Organic Bath Co. is a self-care company that has something for everyone. They offer skin care, body scrubs, hand soaps, and more – all made from “natural ingredients from an ethical supply chain and are 92% Certified Organic, Fair- and Direct Trade for a beautifully simple—and safe—self-care routine.” Organic Bath sells a hand sanitizer, with a formula approved by the World Health Organization, and for every ounce sold, an ounce is donated to an organization in need.

The Honey Pot Company

The Honey Pot Company makes and sells safe-for-you and the earth's feminine care. Their inclusive lineup offers feminine washes and wipes, including special ones for mommies-to-be and post-partum mommies. The Honey Pot Company also sells menstrual cups, organic tampons, and herbal pantiliners and pads, as well as solutions to balance for pH and relieve itching, all made with “ingredients from the earth.”

If providing sustainable feminine care isn’t enough, The Honey Pot also donates supplies to people who menstruate who are experiencing homelessness, low-income, or living in poverty. You can find Honey Pot products at Target.

Dope Dog

Founded by the couple, Erin and Michael, Dope Dog offers CBD treats, oils, and shampoo for our best friends – dogs. Dope Dog partners with a new org every year. In 2020, they are partners with Deity Animal Rescue, 1% of sales made online and 100% of sales made onsite go to the organization.

Briogeo is a clean hair care company based in NYC that makes restoring your hair’s glory as simple as can be. Founded by Nancy Twine, Briogeo offers a complete list of hair care products: conditioning masks, scalp treatments, shampoo, conditioner, vitamins, and more. To support their community during the COVID-19 Pandemic, Briogeo is donating up to 50,000 meals to the Food Bank of NYC. Available at Sephora.
